MI5 HISTORY FOR SCHOOLS LAUNCHED (18.07.06)

As part of our ongoing history project, the Security Service website has been expanded to include an "MI5 History for Schools" section. This builds on the existing history pages on our website to provide information and exercises for pupils on several topics relating to the Service's history. The new pages cover the use of invisible ink and secret writing; secret codes and the story of the Second World War MI5 agent GARBO; and spy gadgets in World War II.

GOVERNMENT PUBLISHES RESPONSE TO REPORT (11.07.06)

The Government has published its report to the Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee's Annual Report 2005-06, responding to the various issues that the Committee has raised.

GOVERNMENT PUBLISHES DETAILS OF COUNTER-TERRORISM STRATEGY (10.07.06)

The Home Secretary, Dr John Reid MP, has made a statement to the House of Commons on the Government's counter-terrorism strategy. The Government has published details of the UK's strategy to combat the threat of international terrorism as well as details of the threat level system used to assess the degree of threat that we face.
